Why exercise is critical to any process in the body that supports longevity, health, and vitality
Now, I know that most people don’t want to hear this. After all, those of us who are sedentary, work in offices, sit at desks or drive for a living and don’t participate in sports–other than to sit and watch other people do exercise–will invent any number of excuses to avoid starting or maintaining an exercise program rather than take the personal responsibility to do what it takes to avoid the aches, pains, degeneration, and disability that will inevitably occur as we age. Carrying around too much body fat is becoming the number one health concern in the western world.
Let’s admit it. Starting an exercise program is hard and it hurts! Our muscles ache. Our old injuries might re-surface. We have to take time away from the things that actually interest us to do it. It’s not fun! And, worse yet, maintaining an exercise program is even harder! Just as we are starting to get in the groove we go on vacation, take a business trip or get over committed and out goes the most important thing we can do to create wellness and avoid pain as we age.
So…we start and stop and then forget that we tried and end up in the inevitable result–but not today or tomorrow. It may take years before the outcome of a life without exercise rears its ugly head.
